Lukewarm Response to Bordeaux 07

In concurrence with initial reports from the trade, influential US critic Robert Parker has played down Bordeaux’s 2007 campaign at this years en primeur tasting. The annual event provides an early but accurate
indication of the quality and subsequent prices of young wines before they hit the market. With a few notable exceptions, the general verdict was that 07 will prove an early drinking vintage, similar in style to the forgettable 97’s. Though demand is likely to be very weak in the shadow of the highly coveted 00, 03 and 05’s, prices are expected to remain lofty, disproportionate certainly to quality offered. With so many
more infinitely exciting, affordable and better quality wines out there I know where my money won’t be going this year.
