Urban Splash appoints hotel operator for Morecambe

Property developer Urban Splash has appointed English Lakes Hotels to run the iconic Midland Hotel in Morecambe, which was painstakingly restored and reopened in June 2008 without an experienced operator, which was the original plan. Bryan Gray, chairman of Urban Splash Hotels, said: “This is a great deal for everyone. The Midland will benefit from English Lakes Hotels’ experience and their excellent marketing. Urban Splash will retain ownership of The Midland and will work with English Lakes Hotels to promote the hotel and Morecambe.” English Lakes Hotels operates four hotels in the Lake District, the Lancaster House Hotel next to the University of Lancaster and is run by Simon Berry, a director of Cumbria Vision.
