Go green to save cash

Businesses across the North West could save £272.3m a year by taking action on climate change, according to research. The Carbon Trust has produced a map of the UK, which includes places with the greatest potential to save businesses money by reducing their carbon emissions. Chief executive Tom Delay said: “We’re talking about money that businesses could save from their energy bills by encouraging staff to turn off computers, changing lighting, turning down the heating or replacing out of date equipment.” The Carbon Trust says most businesses could save up to 20 per cent on energy bills by taking low-cost or no-cost action on energy efficiency.
