Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) recently celebrated the achievements of tourism businesses in the region, in its own Tourism Awards on 10 June. This coming week LBTB staff are keeping their fingers crossed for a win (or two) of their own.

Visitlancashire, the new consumer website launched this March, has been shortlisted for a Travelmole Web Award in the Tourist Board category, following nominations by subscribers to Travelmole.  The shortlist includes fellow tourist board websites Welcome to Yorkshire, VisitOxford and Cumbria GoLakes. The winner will be announced on Wednesday 24th June at Canada House, London.

The next day, Thursday 25th June, at a Gala Dinner at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel, LBTB will be amongst the finalists waiting eagerly to hear if they have won the Food Northwest Excellence Award 2009.  The Food Northwest Awards celebrate businesses in the food and drink industry across the Northwest – Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

Shortlisted alongside LBTB’s Taste Lancashire Campaign, are producers Cheshire Farm Ice Cream, Furness Fish & Game, Dunbia, Seasoned Pioneers and Hawkshead Relish.

LBTB Marketing Director, Tony Openshaw said today

“Hot on the heels of our own awards we find ourselves in the fortunate position of being nominated for two prestigious awards.  In both instances these nominations reflect and reward the efforts of the whole team at the Tourist Board, who work on a wide range of campaigns to ensure Lancashire is always a serious contender for business when consumers are planning a holiday or short break in the UK.”

Some may feel squeamish about eating it, but rabbit has a fan base that grows as cooks discover how easy they are to raise — and how good the meat tastes.
