Restaurant chain Nando’s is bringing its famous flavours to Preston.

The chain, which is famous for its Peri Peri Chicken recipes, has confirmed it will open an outlet on the city’s Deepdale Retail Park in April.

It is expected the restaurant will open in a currently empty unit alongside fast-food giants McDonald’s and KFC.

A spokesman for Nando’s said that the firm picked its locations for new openings depending on how many requests they had from customers for a new store.

She said: “It would appear people in Preston want a Nando’s and we are pleased to confirm we will be opening a restaurant in April next year.

“The North West is one of our key areas and we are delighted to have one now opening in Preston.”

The company could not confirm how many jobs would be created by the opening of the restaurant, but said it would be a “significant” number of customer service roles.

Nigel Dunnington, the franchisee of the neighbouring McDonald’s restaurant, said Nando’s had been seeking a site on the retail park for the last 18 months.

But he believes that the arrival of another major restaurant on the park will make the need for congestion issues to be tackled.

He said: “Competition is competition and while I am pleased that Nando’s is coming to Deepdale, more people means more traffic.
