A top celebrity cook will join the Sheriff of Chester for a special breakfast held in aid of Chester’s frontline soldiers in Afghanistan.

The Sheriff of Chester Councillor Hilarie McNae is hosting a special fund-raising breakfast on Wednesday, November 19, for Chester-based soldiers fighting in Afghanistan and for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).

Celebrity author, Clarissa Dickson Wright, of the Two Fat Ladies television cookery show fame, will join Cllr McNae and members of the public at the Guildhall for the special meal.

“I wanted funds raised at this year’s annual event to go to SSAFA as well as members of the Chester – based 1st Battalion the Royal Welch Fusiliers who are out in Afghanistan,” said Councillor McNae.

“Funds will enable things from home to be purchased and sent on to Afghanistan so that the soldiers know we are thinking of them and they in turn don’t run out of favourite items in their kit bags.”

Cllr McNae said that was ‘tremendously important’ to support SSAFA which helps families locally and across the country.

Continued the Sheriff: “It should be a very entertaining breakfast because Clarrisa Dickson Wright is a wonderful speaker and extremely entertaining.

“So please come along – have a great breakfast with a first class raconteur – and raise funds for the forces.”
