Sodexo has launched its ‘Better Tomorrow Plan’ which outlines the contract caterer and facilities management firm’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy.
The plan has three strands: ‘we are’, which is focussed on values and ethics; ‘we do’, which outlines 14 commitments to action on sustainability challenges; and ‘we engage’, which aims to recognise the dialogue required to translate commitments into action.
Thomas Jelley, corporate citizenship manager for Sodexo UK and Ireland, said: “Our mission is to improve the quality of life for the people we serve and contribute to the economic, social and environmental development of the areas where we operate.
“Through this ten-year sustainable development strategy, we are committing to continuous improvement through a challenging but robust and structured approach.”
The 14 key commitments are spread across health, nutrition and wellness, local communities and the environment. They are focussed on promoting healthy and balanced diets, tackling malnutrition in regions where Sodexo operates, and minimising environmental impacts.
Progress will be monitored with milestone assessments currently expected in 2012, 2015 and 2020.
Sodexo is developing phased plans for each of its commitments, as well as indicators to measure the degree of implementation and impact across the business.
