Bowland Village Inns, the Lancashire-based pub and restaurant business, has been identified as one of the top 200 food and drink companies in the UK by industry magazine, Morning Advertiser.

Each year the magazine conducts research on the companies that are making the grade in the pub trade and tracks the growth of the sector’s future stars.

Andrea Greenhalf, sales and marketing director at Bowland Village Inns, said: “We’re delighted to be acknowledged in the national rankings, and it is a testament to the very talented and dedicated staff we have working for us.”

The Morning Advertiser’s ranking comes at a crucial time for the business and its executive head chef, Michael Weston-Cole who is due to compete against ten other chefs to be named The Great British Pub Food Chef of the Year 2010.

Michael, former Lancashire Chef of the Year, completed his training under Michelin star chef, Jean Christophe Novelli, and is committed to using only the finest ingredients from the pick of the best local suppliers to create traditional English food with a modern edge.

Andrea added: “As a business we are passionate about what we do and how we do it. Our senior management team has collectively over 60 years of experience in the hospitality sector and our vision is to provide a dynamic but contemporary edge to the classic village inn experience. We want to give today’s discerning diner and drinker what they are looking for.”

Bowland Village Inns intends to add further outlets to its portfolio and is aiming to break its target of £1.4 million turnover this year.

The company is already running successful outlets The Plough Country Pub & Dining Room in Galgate and The Punchbowl Country Pub & Restaurant in Churchtown. It recently invested £300,000 when refurbishing The Fenwick Country Pub & Kitchen in Claughton.
