Obsession this year kicked off on 25 January 2010, when Northcote Manor launched its tenth anniversary celebration of Obsession, a yearly extravaganza at the Lancashire foodie hotspot celebrating all that is great and good about food and drink.
Each year, chef and owner Nigel Haworth invites some of the world’s greatest chefs to cook a special menu for diners, in the past hosting inspirational chefs including Heston Blumenthal, Darina Allen, Raymond Blanc and Michel Roux. This year, the Northcote Manor kitchen will welcome Tom Kitchin, Ken Hom and Theo Randall of The Inter Continental, London.
These fine chefs and figure heads of the food industry provide a fantastic opportunity for guests across the North West to experience some of the finest cooking skill in the world, and with Craig Bancroft, joint managing director of the business and wine expert choosing and pairing world class wines with each course, will experience some of the best tipples as well. With tickets costing £100 per guest per evening, each event promises to be a special experience.
Having been a mainstay of the restaurants yearly calendar for a decade, Nigel Haworth and Northcote Manor demonstrate the stronghold’s influence within the industry and the importance of using such events not only to provide a fantastic experience for patrons, but also provide an excellent opportunity for staff to experience world class event delivery and management as well as raise business profile.
In addition to running for ten nights, providing ample opportunity for all those keen to attend to get a table, this year the Northcote Manor team are providing the opportunity for guests to take away a little something to commemorate the event. The ‘Obsession Cook Book’ relives the journey taken over the past ten years, featuring over fifty great chefs and over one hundred recipes for Northcote fans, and can be pre-ordered and purchased for £35 online at www.northcote.com, with each personalised and signed by Nigel Haworth.
This year Obsession will also be dedicating the event to Hospitality Action, the hospitality industry benevolent organisation which provides specialist support to all those who work, or have worked, within the UK and who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in crisis. There will be donations to the charity from each ticket sold.
