Plans for the overhaul of a former pier in Fleetwood, Lancashire, which was damaged by fire in September 2008, have been put on display by the local authority.

Wyre Borough Council (WBC) said large scale versions of the plans - drawn up by SDMK Design and submitted by Simmo Developments - were put on show following a request from residents.

Under the proposals, the site is set to house a 34-bedroom hotel, 640sq m (6889sq ft) of restaurant/café space, 174sq m (1,873sq ft) of leisure/gym space, retail units and four serviced apartments.

Prior to the 2008 fire, Fleetwood Pier had been vacant for a number of years and had been subject to unsympathetic alterations and changes of use since being rebuilt in 1953.
