Popular Lancashire hotel, Barton Grange, is celebrating 50 years of the Barton Suite in November 2010. To mark this significant anniversary, the owners are asking people to share their memories.

Over the past five decades, the fantastic venue has hosted many celebrations including weddings, christenings and birthday celebrations, and it has also accommodated numerous corporate events and conferences.

Ian Topping, managing director at Barton Grange Hotel, said: “It seems extraordinary to think that more than a million guests have attended events since my grandparents opened our ballroom in 1960. There will be many ladies who remember dancing with my grandfather at our Saturday night dinner dances and it would be great to hear from them.

“There will no doubt be some wonderful stories from all the balls, birthdays, anniversaries, dinners and other celebrations that we have hosted and, of course, from some of the 600,000 guests who have attended over 4,000 weddings.”

Speaking about one of his favourite memories, Ian said: “Whilst staying at the hotel, one of our regular hotel guests went to bed leaving his door unlocked and woke up in the early hours to find a bride undressing at the foot of his bed. Once he realised he wasn’t dreaming, he discreetly coughed and the bride realised that she was in the wrong room! This is one memory I won’t forget.”
